Updated: Sep 2
In mid-August, Minister to the Union Rev. Hendrik Shanazarian traveled to the East Coast. The main purpose of this trip was to visit Camp Arevelk, to experience and encourage the AEUNA's East Coast camping ministry.
During the trip, he used the opportunity to also meet with three Union pastors: Rev. Joe Garabedian, Rev. Dr. Haig Kherlopian and Dr. Heather Ohaneson.
Rev. Shanazarian also had the opportunity to visit Rev. Dr. Peter Doghramji and his wife Marie; Mrs. Rebecca and Pauline Karjian, the wife and daughter of Late Rev. H. Karjian; as well as some of the Havertown church leaders. Being in New York created a unique occasion to meet and have lunch with two old and very close friends: Revs. Kenneth and Peggy Thomas, who served with the Presbyterian Evangelical church in Iran for many years till 1979.
Rev. Hendrik writes: “It was a heartwarming experience to meet with the leaders and the youth at Camp Arevelk and experience their great camp program and beautiful location. This was a great opportunity to connect with our leaders and get to know them personally. I enjoyed the warm welcome of Harry and Aileen Stephey and Rev. Haig and Nancy Kherlopian and their sweet son Xander. I felt at home everywhere I visited.”
