First Armenian Church is the oldest Armenian Evangelical Church in Boston. Founded in 1891, FAC has been around for over 130 years. Our mission is simple; we are committed and passionate about helping people find and follow Jesus.

 

Summary


About the Role

 The Senior Pastor will have many duties, such as leading services, teaching the congregation, counseling parishioners, and much more. This job will involve a lot of responsibilities, but it can also be very rewarding! Several ministries and committees support this role; the role has several mentors and reports directly to the Pastoral Advisory Committee.

 

Responsibilities

  • Preaching and teaching

  • Provide the majority of Sunday sermons, including the children’s message

  • Administer the Sacraments at Communion services, and conduct special services such as Weddings, Funerals, Baptisms, Palm Sunday, Easter, Christmas, etc.

  • Ensure smooth flow and operation of all aspects of our worship services that help the congregation become more aware of Jesus’ redemptive work on the cross, His love, and His grace

  • Conduct weekly Bible Study

  • Invest in the spiritual growth (and overall community growth) of the FAC faith community

  • Model spiritual growth and maturity by disciplined study, prayer, worship, humility, and outreach

  • Work in collaboration with the Armenian Evangelical Union

  • Be involved in pastoral care of individuals, couples, and families personally and through the oversight of deacons/church council/pastoral care committee that provides nurture and care to spiritual, emotional, and physical needs

  • Work in collaboration with the FAC Lay leaders, Church Council, Christian Education Committee (includes the Sunday School) and other committees/ministry leaders to ensure the vision and goals are executed as one church body. 

  • Attend community events on behalf of the Church, helping to represent and maintain FAC’s place in the community and to keep the door of ministry open into the community, when able

  

Required Qualifications

  • Master of Divinity from accredited theological seminary

  • Personal faith in Jesus Christ demonstrated through Christ-like character and love

  • Knowledge and experience in Biblical teaching and preaching

  • Skilled at and have a heart for Armenian culture, cross-generational ministry

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

 

Desirable Qualifications

  • It is preferred that the pastor be of Armenian Heritage and/or has an understanding of the Armenian culture

  • Ideally, be able to preach comfortably in both English and Armenian

  • The pastor must exhibit consistent spiritual growth in their personal life and love serving the Lord and the Armenian Evangelical community

  • The pastor must love, appreciate and relate to the Armenian people and our unique Armenian Heritage and culture

  • The pastor must have a desire to serve the Armenian Evangelical community and cultivate strong bonds with the churched and unchurched members of the Armenian American community
