On March 14th the Armenian Evangelical Youth Fellowship held its 2026 Spring One-Day Retreat in Downey, an annual event where young adults from across the state come together for teachings from Scripture, prayer, worship, fellowship, and great food. Over 80 high school students and young adults attended, with Badveli Sam Albarian presenting the Gospel in two sessions with the theme “Take Heart” from John 16:33. Immanuel Armenian Congregational Church and St. Nareg Armenian Church jointly hosted the event, welcoming the group to their church and forming a joint band that led the group in worshipping the Lord together.

After the morning worship and session, the group divided into discussion groups to discuss the theme of deep peace, obstacles to that peace, and how an understanding of Christ’s redeeming work helps us to grow in that. During the afternoon the event moved to Long Beach where everyone enjoyed lunch, explored the piers and boardwalk, visited the Lion’s Lighthouse, and played games. In the evening after a delicious dinner served by the host churches, the night continued with the second worship set and session where the Gospel was presented and tied to peace and stepping forward in faith. The event concluded with a couple hours of fellowship including conversation, board games, and a paklava dessert. AEYF is grateful for the generous hospitality of Immanuel and St. Nareg churches and hopes you will join us in praising the Lord for another great event where the Gospel was preached and God glorified.
