It has become a cherished tradition to celebrate Palm Sunday together with the members of the Armenian Evangelical Church in Mount Prospect, Illinois.

I arrived in Chicago on Friday night, and on Saturday morning I had the pleasure of meeting with Daniel Gueyikian, President of the Armenian Evangelical Youth Fellowship of the Eastern Region. It is always a joy to spend time with this dedicated and passionate young leader, whose commitment to serving the youth and sharing the Good News is truly inspiring.

Later that day, together with Rev. Jeremy Tovmassian, pastor of the Armenian Evangelical Church in Mount Prospect, we visited Mrs. Karoun Gueyikian in the hospital, a longtime and devoted member of the church. She was encouraged by the visit, and it is always a joy to listen to her stories. Our time together, during the drive to the hospital, over lunch, and on the return to the hotel, provided a meaningful opportunity for Rev. Tovmassian and me to reflect on the blessings and challenges of ministry. In the evening, dinner with the church’s dedicated board members offered a warm setting to reconnect and exchange updates.

The Sunday service was very well attended. Rev. H. Shanazarian delivered the message in Armenian, while Rev. J. Tovmassian preached in English. Following the service, all were invited to the traditional Palm Sunday luncheon, graciously sponsored by Mrs. Anais Kasper, one of the pillars of the church. The food was abundant and delicious, lovingly prepared by many faithful members, with special thanks to Tony Plzak for serving as head chef. The luncheon created a warm and joyful atmosphere for fellowship among church members and their families.

We give thanks to God for a safe and blessed visit and extend our heartfelt gratitude to the pastor and board members for their gracious hospitality and warm welcome.
